New York State has instituted a Paid Family Leave Policy that will be the nation's strongest and most comprehensive policy. The program will officially start on January 1, 2018. Please access the link below to view how this program will benefit New York State employees.
This program is intended to be funded entirely through employee payroll deductions. To cover the cost of the program, New York State is allowing employers to start deducting from employee paychecks. The amount of the deduction has been set at 0.126% of an employee's weekly wages, not to exceed $1.65 weekly. The $1.65 maximum figure is based on the current statewide average weekly wage, and will likely increase in the future.
