New York State has instituted a Paid Family Leave Policy that will be the nation's strongest and most comprehensive policy.  The program will officially start on January 1, 2018.  Please access the link below to view how this program will benefit New York State employees.

This program is intended to be funded entirely through employee payroll deductions.  To cover the cost of the program, New York State is allowing employers to start deducting from employee paychecks.  The amount of the deduction has been set at 0.126% of an employee's weekly wages, not to exceed $1.65 weekly.  The $1.65 maximum figure is based on the current statewide average weekly wage, and will likely increase in the future.

For more information about the New York State Paid Family Leave Policy, please feel free to contact Kelly Maroney, Business Development Officer, at (866) 440-0391, ext. 3232 or via e-mail at  If Kelly is unavailable at the time of your call, please contact her colleague, Dan Southard of our subsidiary, Ulster Insurance Services, Inc., at either (866) 440-0391, ext. 3953 or and he will be fully capable of answering any questions you may have.
