Ulster Savings Bank will be Community Leader Sponsor for the Woodstock Playhouse in 2020

Posted November 25, 2019

The Woodstock Playhouse has been awarded $4,000 from Ulster Savings Bank in support of its 2020 season. A not-for-profit theatre, under the direction of the Pan American Dance Foundation, Inc., the Woodstock Playhouse is a historical landmark in the area. Revitalizing and preserving the theatre is a goal of the organization. As the Community Leader Sponsor for 2020, Ulster Savings Bank is proud to support this community icon.

“Nine years ago, our non-profit leadership stepped into the role as primary volunteer/guardian of the Woodstock Playhouse and committed ourselves to a building that was falling apart. Through persistence and hard work, we transformed it into a national treasure and renewed home of great performances to the aid and celebration of our community,” said Randy Conti, Executive Director, Woodstock Playhouse. “We greatly appreciate the support of Ulster Savings Bank’s sponsorship,” he added.

The Woodstock Playhouse was established in 1938 as one of the first rural extensions of Broadway by Robert Elwyn, a fifth-generation Woodstock founding family member. Today the theatre presents high-profile musicals and dramas which include the popular Second Saturday Cabarets and wonderful Children’s Theatre presentations in July. They are a member site of the Hudson River Valley Heritage Area which protects, promotes, and interprets significant resources in our area and the nation.

As a community bank with no stockholders, Ulster Savings exists for the benefit of its customers and community and has supported hundreds of non-profit organizations year after year.
