New Chairman Announced for Ulster Savings Bank Board of Trustees

Mr. Ely, who has chaired the Risk committee, the Audit committee, and served as a former chair of the Ulster Savings Charitable Foundation during his 14 years as a bank trustee, recently retired after serving in numerous engineering, program management, and executive roles in a wide range of other intensive technology businesses.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Harford, and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He previously held national and New York State securities and insurance licenses.
His professional involvement included membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Project Management Institute (PMI). He has served as an advisor on the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council, the I-95 Corridor Coalition, and OmniAir payment interoperability. He was also granted a U.S. Patent.
Joe previously served on the Rhinebeck Technology Committee and the Cable Franchise Board of Control. He‘s been involved with other community organizations including the Southlands Foundation, Little League Softball, Neighbor’s Gun Club, Mensa, and Intertel.
Mr. Ely currently resides in Rhinebeck.
