Posted October 1, 2025

Happy family in front of their home.

Ulster Savings Bank has a long history of navigating challenges, including past government shutdowns and pandemics. Our 174- year history reflects that we are experienced in handling disruptions. We will continue to support our customers through whatever challenges that might arise. There is NO direct impact on our bank’s daily operations. Our operating hours remain the same.

Q: I am a federal employee. What will happen if I can’t pay my loan or credit card?

A: We stand ready to support our customers who may be facing any hardships due to the current circumstances. We encourage you to contact us to discuss your personal situation so we can determine how to assist you during this time. You can contact customer service at 845-338-6322 or [email protected] or visit your local branch during regular business hours.

Q: Do you help with loan payments if I am not receiving my government paycheck?

A: Yes, we offer assistance with loan payments. You can call our loan servicing department at 845-338-6233, ext. 3338 or email us at [email protected] for help.

Q: I have investment accounts with Ulster Financial Services and have concerns about the economic impact and the markets. Who can I reach out to for guidance?

A: Our investment professionals are available to you. Please contact them directly or click here for their contact information.

Q: I am in the process of getting a loan approved using a lending program funded by the federal government. What should I do?

A: While our bank is not directly affected by the shutdown, the Small Business Administration, the Federal Housing Administration, the Department of Agriculture and other agencies with lending programs funded by the federal government could be impacted. This could delay your mortgage loan approvals. Please reach out to your loan originator directly.

Q: I am in the process of closing on a loan that requires National Flood Insurance. What should I do?

A: National Flood Insurance payments (if applicable) could be delayed by the shutdown. If you are in the process of closing on a loan that requires national flood insurance, you can still close on your loan during this lapse. Please reach out to your loan originator directly.

Remember, we are here for you.  Don’t hesitate to contact us at any branch or call us at 845-338-6322 during regular business hours.
