Community

Where You Bank Matters

Why We Give Back. Without you, there would be no ‘US’! Our long term success would NOT be possible without a vibrant community. Did you know Ulster Savings is 1 of 449 remaining mutual savings banks in the United States? In New York State, we are 1 of only 26 remaining mutual savings banks. What does that mean? Unlike big banks, mutual savings banks have no stockholders, therefore our profits stay local and are reinvested back into the community in a variety of ways

Where We Give. We support non-profit organizations in the communities we serve, with an emphasis on helping causes our employees are directly engaged with. The majority of our management team serves on local non-profit and economic development boards and employees donate their time and effort to various causes throughout the Hudson Valley.

Overall Impact. Ulster Savings is a leader in charitable giving year after year. Ulster Savings gives back in two ways-through the bank’s community donations program and also through its Charitable Foundation.

We are proud of our efforts and the significant impact we have made in the communities we serve. Helping community changes lives for the better.

Last year alone (2022), Ulster Savings was able to donate over $409,774 to the community we love and call home!

The bank and its foundation together have donated over $14.5 million dollars since the foundation’s formation in honor of the bank’s 150th anniversary in 2001.

Community Matters to US.

With deep roots in the Hudson Valley, we understand the value of caring about the communities we serve. Supporting local is at the heart of everything we do and no local community bank does it better than US. Whether it’s through monetary donations, collecting needed items, or volunteering our time.

Culinary Act of Kindness

We have joined WBPM to sponsor the lunches for the Workplace of the Week. The first winner was Park Optics. On June 10, Connie Harkin, VP of Marketing, delivered their lunch from Home Plate Deli. Supporting our local businesses and their employees is another way we are thanking our community.

Opening Season for Mini Golf

The weather is getting nicer and we helped families enjoy the outdoors. Kids of all ages received a free ticket on US for a game of miniature golf at the season opening of Putting Plus in Saugerties.

Inspiration from Peace the Service Dog

Ulster Savings Bank is a proud supporter of The Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and their continued advocacy for the vulnerable children of our community. A few years ago we helped sponsor a grant for the Center to purchase a service dog to comfort the young clients during stressful interviews with CPS. Peace is the facility’s 2 year old golden retriever and the children’s guardian angel. This year the South Road Poughkeepsie branch manager, Dennis Conn coordinated with Executive Director, Kimbery Haight to purchase stuffed animals for the children that would remind them of Peace and to serve as constant companions. Just like Peace, we are committed to the service and comfort of the children at The Center.

Mother's Day Flowers

On Saturday, May 8, we helped Red Hook VFW Post 7765 and Frank Vosburg of Kesicke Farm Cattle Inc. celebrate Mother's Day by giving away beautiful hanging flower baskets to several VFW post members, Auxiliary members and their families at Kesicke Farm Market in Red Hook.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo

On Wednesday, May 5, we gave out FREE Guacamole Dip Appetizers to the first 50 customers who came to dine at Casa Vallarta after 4pm. Lake Katrine Branch Manager Karisa Finch and Casa Vallarta owner Sam Alegria are pictured at the establishment.
